| 7/9/08 | | | AIRBORNE TWO-WHEEL ACTION WOWS MONSTER TRUCK FANS
|
| | | The two-wheel boys really busted out big as JUMP MANIA wound down its national ‘08 tour in front of Full Houses in Sydney and Melbourne.
The action came to a halt at Sydney’s Olympic venue ACER ARENA last Saturday night. The crowd of nearly 14,000 was only a few short of the spectator numbers next door at the Sydney Swans-North Melbourne AFL playoff and bigger than Rugby League final round matches.
It all happened indoors for grateful Freestyle Motocross fans on a weekend which saw heavy rain force cancellation of horse racing at Randwick.
Melbourne back on July 26 saw world-class jumping from the likes of ROBBIE MARSHALL, JARRYD McNEIL, JOSH BURDON and DEREK BURTON. This airborne quartet virtually scraped the roof of ROD LAVER ARENA, home to the Australian Open Tennis.
Then at ACER ARENA, the aerial action came from Burdon joined by BLAKE SKELTON and backflip maestro JOEL BALCHIN.
Freestyle Motocross, pioneered by SPOKES PROMOTIONS as far back as 1987, has long been a popular component of JUMP MANIA which showcases the mechanical mayhem of Aussie and American Monster Trucks.
